Nystagmus Grading

 NYSTAGMUS 

Amplitude

• Fine: less than 50 
• Moderate: 50- 150 
• Large: greater than 150

Frequency

• Slow : 1-2 hz 
• Medium: 3-4 Hz
• Fast : >5Hz 

 

3 degrees of nystagmus:

• First degree: Nystagmus only in the direction of the fast component
• Second degree: + nystagmus in primary position
• Third degree: + nystagmus in the direction of slow component
